Illegally Obtained Data Now a Free-for-All Thanks to Obama

They bypassed a warrant to get the data… allllll of the datas. And now, thanks to a new “rule” made in the last week of Obama’s administration: NSA can share that unfiltered info of innocent Americans (innocent till proven guilty, remember?) to other agencies, again, without a warrant of any kind.

Come on in! It’s ok.

  1. It’s too confusing to lock my front door. I’ll just leave it unlocked. It’s ok.
  2. The guy who built my house installed a door with a faulty lock but instead of having a locksmith install a new lock I’ll get the carpenter to patch my door up and leave the same lock. It’s ok.
  3. Everyone else on the block is using the same lock. Someone with a key can come unlock all our doors. What are the chances they will unlock mine. I don’t do anything interesting inside anyway. It’s ok.
  4. I don’t want to use a key. I have too many keys. I can’t remember where they all are. I’ll just not have a key. It’s ok.
  5. *sigh* It’s not ok.

“Friends” = “Public” … Really Facebook???

Rant Incoming…

So there I am testing a wordpress plugin that automatically posts to FB when you post on your blog. Nifty little thing. Ran into something quirky so I decided to visit my FB settings. Everything looked copasetic until I decided to view my wall as “public”. Seeing as I have my settings to show my wall to “Friends”, it should show a blank wall.

FBsettings

It did not. WTF???

Ok, so there was a repost of someone else’s post that was most likely public. I get that. That’s fine.

*scroll* *scroll* *scroll*

WAIT. Here’s a post I wrote. No links to anything. No pictures. Nothing. Just me typing some words. THAT should be ONLY visible to FRIENDS ONLY because, you know, *POINTS* that’s what I have it set to!!!

Facebook… really… I… *GRRRRRRRR* …

I have some decisions to make.

To be continued…

Hey! You! Get off of my cloud!

So last week I built a website. Not for a business but for an individual. She wanted a secure place to host her personal phtos, family photos and documents, where she could control who saw what. Her domain is hers, not some company name slash her name, like facebook.com/gumby or instagram.com/pokey, but HERname.com As long as she keeps paying the $15/year to keep it registered to her, it’s never going anywhere. It’s not going out of business, it’s never filing for bankruptcy. Oh and HEY… it’s never selling her data to advertisers NOR giving it to your trusty old govt. Nope. It’s hers, and the data within is hers.

Now let’s just say I, as her host, get fed up with it all and give up the web biz and go live on some island without *hee* internet connec…. *hee hee*… connection… *BWAHHAHAHA*…

No really. For whatever reason, let’s say I’m no longer her host. Her data is all backed up and all she has to do is point her domain to a different host and upload the backed-up data and VOILA! Looks like she never left. Her domain stays the same. Her emails stay the same.

Can someone tell me whyyyyyyyy everyone isn’t doing this???

Why aren’t *you* doing this?
